I have no idea how I'm supposed to get to the spark plugs on this damn thing. Good thing my friend has an engine lift :D

I put a towel across the upper radiator support, and put my knees on it. Remember I had a LeSabre too

Would it be easier to go from the bottom? I'm not planning on replacing them, just checking to see how gunked up they are. My gas mileage has been less than stellar lately.

Just double up son.

They weren't difficult to get from the top. The exhaust may make coming up from the bottom problematic.

Ah, ok. Might check the MAF sensor as well. That's the bit inside the rubber intake tube, right? I put an old K&N filter on my car and I feel like it somehow gunked up my sensor so now I need to grab some MAF cleaner

I've done GM fwd 3.1 and 3800's using these.

Those 3.1 engines were beasts. Made as much power as the 3.8 and had dat glorious DOHC noise that always made them sound broken.

I'm talking about the LH0. OHV motor. From my understanding the only DOHC V6 from this period from GM was the 3.4.

It's cool. They both came in a lot of the same cars. The 3.1 was basically a smaller 3800. My '90 Lumina was probably the toughest to reach with the 3.1. The Haynes manual advised to remove the engine mounts and use a prybar to til the engine forward. I was able to just get at it with a couple universal joints.

Yeah, we had a '91 Lumina with the 3.1 It hauled like a freight train, and is the reason I have a bit of lust for a manual Z34. Mmmmm... 3.4l DOHC...

I used to want one of these pretty bad back in the day. This is my local Advance Auto parts lot.

mmmmm, yes. Amazing how I can never find one locally, much less one with half-decent paint.

Come to rural Ohio, we all seem to have a love affair with them.
